Creative Coping is a mental health practice that provides psychiatric and psychological services for individuals and organisations. We specialize in Stress Management, the treatment of Depression and Anxiety, and Life Change Management – helping individuals manage transitions in their lives. Individuals have the option of having their concerns dealt with in a professional caring manner by either or both of our mental health practitioners who work closely in partnership.

Dr. Earl Wright, MD MPH

Dr. Wright specializes in the treatment of depression and the management of
stress related illnesses and problems. He is trained as a consultant in community
psychiatry. He is the immediate past Director of Mental Health and Substance
Abuse Services in the Ministry of Health, Jamaica. Previously he held a similar
position as Director of Community Mental Health Services for the State of New
York for the borough of Manhattan. He was also Director of Psychiatric Residency
Training at the Manhattan Psychiatric Center, New York University.
Dr Wright is a medical graduate of the University of the West Indies. He completed his postgraduate medical education at Harlem Hospital, New York, where he did his Psychiatry Residency and obtained a Masters in Public Health and Community Mental Health from Columbia University, New York. He is currently the Chairman of the National Council on Drug Abuse, and is a well known Moderator of Clinical Expressions on RJR 94 FM. His patients know him for his competence, gained from many years of experience and prestigious training. His calm disposition, soothing manner, ability to listen, and down to earth compassionate style, make each patient feel comfortable and reassured that solutions can be found.

As a therapist Mrs Alexander blends cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT) with
a psychodynamic orientation - helping clients to move forward in their lives
using practical solutions whilst also developing an understanding of underlying
issues that contribute to their struggles. Mrs Alexander is a MSc Clinical
Psychology graduate from the University of the West Indies, and has completed
a further 3 years of training towards her PhD Clinical Psychology; as well
as attending further training at The Gottman Institute (Couples’ Therapy) and
The Beck Institute (CBT).
In addition to her psychological training and experience, Mrs Alexander has over 16 years of business and consultancy experience gained in companies within the UK and Jamaica. She also has a MA in Human Resource Development from Kingston University, England. Before training as a psychologist she was a management consultant at PricewaterhouseCoopers.
Mrs Alexander’s unique blend of training and experience allows her to be able to conceptualize and understand mental health issues from both a clinical and an organizational perspective. Mrs Alexander is a member of a number of professional organisations including the Jamaican Psychological Society (Jampsych), the American Psychological Association (APA), the Society for Personality Assessment (SPA), the International Stress Management Association (ISMA), and the Employee Assistance Professionals Association (EAPA). She is a Chartered Member of the Institute of Personnel Development (CIPD) in the UK, and a member of the Human Resource Management Association of Jamaica (HRMAJ)
